Ring of Fire Christmas Fund
In 2009, rather than send Christmas cards as they had in the past to children from the Aboriginal communities of Webequie and Marten Falls First Nation who were living on and off reserve, employees at Noront came together to provide something special. Thanks to the generous support and donations from our staff as well as our Board of Directors, suppliers, employees and friends, we were able to provide children in the community with a wonderful feast, a wrapped gift and a special day of celebration they wouldn’t soon forget.
Since we began, Noront has raised more than $75,000 in support of this now much-loved and very special holiday program. These funds are spent on toys, a holiday feast and transportation fro Santa and his elves to the communities.
We have worked to expand each year, and have added a mentorship component that brought two Canadian hockey players to Webequie to run a hockey clinic, as well as a singer-songwriter and hip hop “b-boy” dancer.
By working with the Mamow Sha-way-gi-kay-win North South Partnership for Children we are able to provide a tax receipt for all donations.
