Field Assistant (Short-Term Contracts)

Reporting to the Project Geologist and working with other Esker Site employees you play a key role at our Esker Site in Northern Ontario.  The Field Assistant performs support work for the Exploration team.



Field Assistant’s duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Geophysical Support

  • Assisting with laying and gathering ground cables and wires through the bush
  • Properly inserting geophysical survey equipment into the ground
  • Walking up to 12km per day through the bush while carrying up to 50lbs of gear
  • Following instructions of the geophysical lead to ensure quality of data collection

Line Cutting Support

  • Perform or assist with line cutting, chaining and picketing of survey grids using hand tools and chain saws
  • Accept mentoring from experienced Line Cutters, including taking the line-cutting lead for a period of time each day to increase skills

General Field Support

  • Assisting with movement of drill core within in camp and between remote sites
  • Assisting with preparation of drill trail and drill pads
  • Assisting with other field tasks as required
  • Assisting in the collecting of rock or soil samples



  • Physically fit
  • Ability to work for long hours in cold or hot weather conditions
  • Adaptable and willing to follow instructions
  • Chain Saw Operator certificate is required
  • Emergency First Aid certificate is required
  • Experience with ATVs and snow machines is required
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Follow health and safety responsibilities, under all applicable government legislations and Noront policies and procedures
