BLUE JAY (AT-12) Ni-Cu-PGE OCCURRENCE

Blue Jay is a magmatic, nickel-copper-PGE occurrence located 9.5km northeast of Eagle’s Nest. It was discovered in 2008 after being identified as an airborne EM anomaly.  It is located in the keel to the ultramafic sill known as the Black Thor Intrusive Complex (BTIC) which hosts the Black Thor chromite deposit (figure 1).  The keel measures on 1.400m in length x 200m wide x 600m deep and plunges to the south-southwest at 65⁰ (figure 2).

Figure 1: Geology of the BTIC and location of the Blue Jay Ni-Cu-PGE occurrence.

Mineralization at Blue Jay is dominated by disseminated to net-textured sulfides (pyrrhotite-pentlandite-chalcopyrite) and thin massive sulfide accumulations within peridotite and pyroxenite. Sulfide tenors at Blue Jay are comparable to Eagle’s Nest as is the location of sulfide accumulations near the base of the ultramafic host providing a vector to the paleo horizon and further targeting. Exploration work to date includes 54 drill holes, surface and borehole geophysics. A large BHEM plate exists below Blue Jay which remains to be tested.

Figure 3: Blue Jay massive sulfide intersection hosted in peridotite. NOT-09-2G28 returned 4.8m grading 2.2% Ni, 1.2% Cu, 0.8g/t Pt, 1.4g/t Pd from 730.7-735.5m depth.

A summary of drill intersections through the Blue Jay occurrence is presented below.
