BLACK THOR CONTACT ZONES
The Black Thor Contact Zone Ni-Cu-PGE occurrences are located along the western and eastern flanks of the BTIC (figure 1). Mineralization was initially discovered here in 2008 while drilling airborne EM conductors located along the margins of the BTIC. To date 12 holes have been drilled into both occurrences. A summary of intersections is presented in the table below. Mineralization consists of disseminated sulfides within marginal pyroxenite phases of the BTIC proximal. Locally thin accumulations of massive to semi-massive sulfide are also present. While mineralization intersected to date is dominantly disseminated, sulfide tenors are comparable to Eagle’s Nest suggesting similar parental magma compositions and R-factors for both intrusions.
Future exploration in the Black Thor Contact Zones will target accumulations of massive sulfide within footwall depressions of the BTIC.
